In January Lizzy and I took the car via the tunnel
to France and then on to Bruges. We didn't know it then but this
was to be our last trip abroad for some time. Just as well that
we had a lovely time.
Although it was cold, it meant that the amount of
tourists were low. I can imagine that in the summer the streets
get absolutely packed.
Bruges really lives up to its reputation as the northern
European venice - from what I've been told Bruges doesn't smell
as bad as Venice either, and it's far cheaper.
We stayed in a lovely little Hotel right by one of
the many canals, 10 minutes walk from the city center.
We reckon we walked every street in the old center
and took a photo of it! As you can see by the photo's on the left
Bruges really is very pretty.
